Gold

금은 화학 원소로 기호는 Au, 원자 번호는 79이다. 빛나는 노란색의 무른 금속으로 연성과 가단성이 있는 전이 금속이다. 다른 화학 물질과 화학 반응을 일으키지 않으나, 염소, 플루오린, 왕수와는 반응한다. 덩어리 금속, 또는 바위나 충적토의 알갱이로 산출된다. 수천년 이상 금은 화폐로 쓰였으며, 장신구와 치과, 전자 제품 등에도 사용되었다. 그뿐만 아니라, 전자공학 특히 인쇄기판이나 실리콘를 겉에 입힌 반도체에 쓰인다.
